Meaningless Statistics
March 9, 2009 Politics

Some people would be inclined to use statistics such as the following to say something to support their favorite Kaiser President:

  • During the Clinton Presidency, union membership nationwide fell by about 16% (over 2.5 percentage point fall in share of workforce in unions).
  • During the reign of Bush II, union membership nationwide fell by only 10% (about 1.4 percentage point fall).

Therefore unions are better off under a Republican administration than under a Democrat administration. Or that Republican Presidents are actually more labor friendly than Democrats. Of course, you know what these statistics really amount to, right?
