Many major biological discoveries were somewhat accidents, also they often came from experiments on animals people would largely think as irrelevant (i.e. one vital protein was isolated in an experiment based off making rabbits glow, this discovery is used in tons of research today). Although there is a strong point that some of these numbers appear ridiculous... But these are vital studies.
