Here is our student Stephen Macaskill, a 2010 graduate of the University of Rochester, Founder and President of Amagi Clothing, and founding member of our Hayek Reading Circle here at the University of Rochester. Way to go Stephen! (see from 17:01 to 20:24)

Some tough questions from the judge and very well done by Stephen, including answering on the fly the question of, “Where does freedom come from?” Here is Stephen’s company.

I was travelling with my wife on the Teconic Parkway going to an event to honor ROTC cadets from all services but including those of Mohawk Batallion. Unfortunately, I was stopped for speeding.

So you have a mid to late 50’s couple, well groomed & dressed (coat & tie etc), driving a late model well maintained car, stopped for speeding. The officer saw the Gladstone “Don’t Tread on Me” bumper sticker (a modest 4″x6″) and at 10 yards un-snapped the release on the holster of his pistol as he approached the car.

A good advertisement for Professor Wintercow’s economics courses. A payoff in dollars and wisdom!

Regarding the post above that referenced a Don’t Tread on Me bumpersticker:

Back in the olden days of my college years, I was driving up to Mt. Holyoke and got stopped by a South Hadley cop who told me the speed limit in a residential zone in Massachusetts was 25 mph. I was going 55, he said, so I slumped down in my seat, expecting a big ticket. On the dashboard I had taped a “Support Your Local Police” sticker that had been printed by the John Birch Society. The officer took a look at that sticker, put away his pen and ticket pad, looked me square in the eyes and said, “Slow down.” Apparently many of the local police in Massachusetts were John Birchers, and those stickers were get out of jail free cards.
