Diet and Exercise are Health Care
November 26, 2011 Economic Illiteracy

Did you know that food expenditures for an average family in the US are lower today (as a share of income) than at any point in American history? Did you know that clothing and exercise equipment costs are lower today than they have been in the last three decades? Did you know that the (marginal) money cost of taking a walk for an hour a day, or jogging for 30 minutes a day, or doing push-ups, sit-ups, stretches, and even sleeping has always been and continues to be zero?

Did you also know that improved transportation and communication technologies make it possible for Americans to access health care services in parts of the world where those services are considerably cheaper than it is here in the US?

Just thought it would be nice to remind folks of this as they think about the health care “crisis” in America.
