Kodak has filed for bankruptcy protection and reorganization. Read the AP News Story here. Here is a probably very little-known fact about the company buried down in the article:

In 1975, engineer Steven Sasson created the first digital camera, a toaster-size prototype capturing black-and-white images at a resolution of 0.1 megapixels.

Class starts in a few hours, otherwise you’d see a long post about this.

Creative destruction. Resources moving towards their most valued and most efficient uses.

  2. Hindsight is 20/20. It might be interesting to gather many of these stories into a book. However, Volume 2 would have to be about massively-funded products that failed.

100,000 bits is 12.5 kilobytes. We could have had these for our Apples and Radio Shacks and Commodores in 1980 and by 1984 stored the images on floppies and shared them at 1200 baud. And Kodak did have its label on 5 1/4 inch floppies.

Of all the words of mice and men…
