Fun Facts to Know and Tell: Regulating Mercury Edition
April 14, 2012 Environment

Do not get me wrong, mercury is some really awful stuff and we don’t really want to be ingesting it. But consider the data embedded in the following few sources: the amount of mercury concentration and disposition across the US bears almost no resemblance to where coal fired power plants are burning.

In fact, people living in the pristine airs of the Pacific Northwest (wind blows from West to East, so no coal powerplants are muddying the air up there) are exposed to more mercury than the typical person living in … Pennsylvania.

  1. Let the trace mercury come upon Pennsylvania, and I hope the Occupy children will spread their dirty sheets to catch it. Let a plague fall on Sodom, and a pillar of fire come from their tapwater..
