Saw my sister post this on Facebook. Apparently this is all too common at many universities, based on what she tells me. =/
Her account is chilling. Evil exists.
I am stunned myself – there was much discussed about this at Amherst when I was there, we went through training as RAs, there were professionals on campus who seemed in a position to deal with this – so it was stunning to read. I am sorry for the student. And embarrassed for Amherst.
I am not so sure you should be embarrassed about Amherst, WC. There is much moral hypocrisy everywhere, plenty to go around, but this falls in the Charlie Manson category. I think one might well point the finger at secular relativism and modern decline in values, but then there was Jack the Ripper, who may have gone to Amherst, if he had the right boards.
