Norfolk Southern coal trains which coordinate with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe, never stop to unload the fuel from Wyoming. From 30,000 feet, the trains are invisible, the plumes from the towers visible to alert pilots on a clear day. This is one of the world’s largest single-point emitter of carbon dioxide, which, if not consumed by breathless plants in Lahore, may be dissolved by a rain storm somewhere between Atlanta and the Canary Islands.
