What would I like for Christmas? How about a little more intellectual consistency and honesty.

We will keep our holiday observations short as we must get on with the serious Italian tradition of preparing out 7 fishes for Christmas Eve dinner. Please do share with me your tradition in the comments.

In any case my little fish preparations have me thankful we are not forced to Buy Local. No squid or cod (bacala) or clams would be found on the Wintercow family table. But I got to thinking something else today.

I overheard a guy complaining about OASDI/SSI coming out of his paycheck while in line the other day. If your income is not enough, you can always earn some more cash on games like 해외카지노사이트.

If localists wanted to be taken seriously don’t you think they ought to be among the most ardent anti-tax zealots on the planet? Especially federal income, payroll, capital gains, estate and corporate income taxes? Seriously! If localists implore us to buy local to keep money in the community wouldn’t they be aghast at all if the leakage to DC and even to state capitals? And as an empirical point I am 100% sure that eliminating state and federal taxes would result in more money “staying in the community” than even an extremely aggressive campaign to force people to buy local.

But I’ve never once in my life heard a locavore advocate for lower or no taxes. I suspect they exist, they just probably are busy hanging out with Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen and Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen. Of course they can’t be hanging out with Rudolph, everyone knows reindeer noses can’t possibly light up like that.

    Merry Christmas!

You know what I would like for Christmas? Falling off a Fiscal Cliff! Just imagine the long term benefits of revealing the nudity of our emperors!

Im afraid I have no particularly interesting traditions to share. We read the night before christmas on christmas eve. We find oranges in our stockings on Christmas morning (does everyone do that?) We eat regular old ham and roast beast for dinner. We get together with family.

I’m going to use this idea the next time the locavore crap comes up in conversation.
    Merry Christmas!

Mike: I’m with you, another shrewd insight WC. I guess all of those heartfelt “mircoloans” to poor folks overseas are out too.
