Confiscation Day

Three thoughts as you pay your taxes today:

  1. Ironically, criticism of capitalism on the grounds that workers are wage slaves – when a minority of the population controls non-human components of production that workers use to produce goods – is connected to the belief that one should have freedom to work without a boss or obligation.

  2. “Maybe we ought to see that every person who gets a tax return receives a copy of the Communist Manifesto with it so he can see what’s happening to him.”

    T. Coleman Andrews
    Commissioner of the IRS, (1899 – 1983)

  3. “To force a man to pay for the violation of his own liberty is indeed an addition of insult to injury. But that is exactly what the State is doing.” – Benjamin R. Tucker, 1893
