1. As part of the Cap and Charade Trade CO2 emissions reduction program, the Administration plans on raising $300 billion between 2011 and 2019 from increasing the tax rates on those whose income exceeds $250,000 per year.
2. As part of the Health Care Distortion Reform plan, according to the bill passed recently by the House of Representatives, any individual who makes more than $280,000 a year — or any couple that makes more than $350,000 — is going to pay a surcharge of at least 1% of income above those levels. The more you make, the more you pay. The biggest earners will face a surcharge of 5.4%.
3. 57% of Americans surveyed want to “tax the rich” more. Is it a coincidence that roughly 50% of Americans have zero federal income tax liability? Here’s a nice one: “You know, I mean, why not? If they have that much money, it should be taxed,” said Mary Pat Rondthaler, 60, of Menlo Park, Calif. “It isn’t the same way that the guy making $21,000 is”. OK Mary Pat, thanks for playing. 4. “Stern (President of the SEIU Union), the most frequent guest to the White House this year, said the U.S. economy has created a system in which the entrepreneurial class is not loyal to America.” Its not wrong for the government to distribute wealth to people who need it, and labor unions can help the country do that. Alrighty then! That just sealed the deal on me remaining patriotic and never having the chutzpah to start a productive enterprise. It actually hurts me to think that whatever I do I make Generalissimo Stern happy. If I become an entrepreneur, I become his host. If I stay as unproductive as I am, I make him happy because I am a patriot.

Happy Thanksgiving. I am so thankful to live in a land where the productive are held in contempt. I am so thankful to live in a land where the laws of economics are suspended at people’s convenience. And I am so thankful to live in a land where these attitudes are no longer considered to be “spreading the wealth around” but rather part of a moral duty. And I am so happy to live in a land where the “moral duties” are not shared equally at all.
