David Henderson points us to this.

Here is the story as Henderson tells it:

On Tuesday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a speech at George Washington University in which she criticized foreign governments for cracking down on freedom of speech. In her audience was a retired CIA official, Ray McGovern, who quietly turned his back on her in protest of her pro-war actions. He didn’t disrupt her speech. Right while Clinton was touting free speech and look at the back of the small room and could, presumably, see McGovern, goons roughed up McGovern and hauled him away. Did Hillary Clinton protest? No. She didn’t even miss a beat. Nor, sadly, did anyone in her audience speak out. (See here for the story and here for the short video.)

Absolutely disgraceful, not in the least surprising. The most disappointing part? The lefties who who would have rightly ridden W out on a rail for this behavior, will give her a pass.

Obviously there are certain forms of speech which simply cannot be tolerated in a civil society. Oh, this was silence.

Standing up with one’s back turned is hardly disorderly conduct, and it’s clear that Ray McGovern did not require to be handcuffed and be mistreated by the bouncers at Hillary’s speech.

Hillary never gives open-ended interviews and never answers questions from her audience. She gives all interviewers ground rules that specify what they can or cannot ask. This served her well during the years of Whitewater, Cattlegate, Travelgate, Ron Brown’s demise, Vince Foster’s death and the subsequent removal of papers from Foster’s office to the personal presidential living quarters and other irregular activities that surrounded her activities as First Lady. If there ever were a presidential candidate who had skeletons in the closet, she was it. Good lawyer as she was, she was not going to allow some dimwit reporter to ask her about any of this.

As for her remarks on free speech around the world, what credibility can she have criticizing crooked tyrants anywhere? She’s the Dragon Lady, for goodness’ sake.
