Much is made about the 46.6 million uninsured Americans – it is such a large number that I believe it will be the catalyst for a semi-nationalized health system before the next two decades have passed. What do we know about these uninsureds?
-
14.56 million come from households earning less than $25,000 per year. Which is unfortunate. However, the number of uninsured from this group has been falling. In 2004, there were 15.13 million uninsureds in families in this income category – a fall of 3.8%.

8.7 million come from households earning more than $75,000 per year. And it is from this group that the ranks of the uninsured have increased most rapidly. Between 2004 and 2005, there was an 11.1% increase in the number of uninsured from this group.
This from the Annual Census Report on Income, Poverty and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States.
