If anyone wants a real slice of Keynes at his best, you can do no better than read his Economic Consequences of the Peace. Here is an electronic version from Liberty Fund. Written in 1919, it was incredibly prescient about how much damage the post-war “solutions” for Europe was going to do. I’ve been thinking a lot about the debt debacle in Europe right now and cannot shake the strange feeling that it is not the General Theory we ought to be resuscitating these days.
Here’s another somewhat disturbing thought. Google the term, “The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money” and notice what the first website listed is.
It’s actually not a bad site to read some books. I’ve read the “Poverty of Philosophy” from that site before. Not saying that I necessarily agree with them, though.
