End all public funding of higher education. I was going to post a long ditty on it, but I prefer to make bald proclamations today. Note of course that my proclamation is even stronger (tautological perhaps?) if we take a global view of justice rather than a US-centric view.

NOW you make your proposal, after the thousand horses have left the barn. For a century and then some, schools have been funded by real estate taxes, more or less, a theory that goes back to the idea that the more fields you owned, the more you were obligated to educate the children of the people making cigars in town.

I think our local schools should be paid for by somebody else, maybe Warren Buffett and the estate of Ted Forstmann.

Geez, Wintercow, I was even on my computer and missed the adjective “higher” and missed the crux of your wise policy proposal, which has to eat into the stomach linings of tenured professors worried about their sinecure. Do not count on your proposal being enacted any time soon.

One of Obama’s recent proposals is to get everyone a higher education (reading would be higher). My proposal is to give everybody who asks (not many) a Masters in BS from Wesleyan in Environmental Science. Talk about lifting everyone up by the bootstraps! And it’s free, not counting the fees!

Get rid of funding for PBS, too. Not too many in the ‘hood hangin’ on words of Garrison Keiler, and cranking out opera I don’t suppose… how come the media never wants to take THAT away from the 1 percent???
