Diversity Survey

Colleagues,

The Curriculum Subcommittee of the Centre College Diversity Committee has been charged to study diversity and multiculturalism in the curriculum. We begin this effort by asking you, a program chair or program director, to complete the below survey. Please realize that we are asking you to represent, as fairly as possible, the views of those in your program and not just your own viewsThe survey addresses three broad areas of interest: (1) discipline specific concerns, (2) curriculum concerns, and (3) practical concerns.

Please set aside a breif amount of time to answer the survey; 10-15 minutes should give us plenty of information.  We ask that you respond by February 17.  Thanks in advance for your consideration and participation.  Please feel free to ask me if you have any questions.  Please return the survey to me at …

Sincerely,

… and

Chair of the Curriculum Subcommittee of the Centre College Diversity Committee.

I. Discipline Specific Concerns:

 1. 1.Do diversity and multiculturalism come into play in the subject matter of your discipline? If so, how?  If not, why?

2. How do diversity and multiculturalism affect methods and/or findings within your discipline?

II. Curriculum Concerns:

 3. In what ways could your program introduce diversity or multiculturalism into program degree requirements?

 4. How could the College help your program to include diversity and multiculturalism into your program’s course offerings?

III. Practical Concerns:

 5. What do you think will be the most difficult aspect(s) of bringing diversity and multiculturalism into the curriculum at Centre College, if changes are proposed?

 6. What programs or general education courses should be first on the list for diversity and/or multiculturalism enhancements?
