What a disappointment…I really like Ben Stein, but his support for this movie is completely misguided, imho.
While I am entirely sympathetic to the cause of academic freedom, I think this quote fairly well captures my thoughts on the topic:
“Unlike the theory of relativity or of gravity, intelligent design cannot produce testable hypotheses or be refined over successive experimentation. ”
I don’t think professors can be blamed for refusing to teach a theory that is decidely unscientific. Until the proponents of intelligent design can create a positive argument for its existence, I don’t think it has earned a spot on the curriculum.
