Our family recently returned from a trip to the Lehigh Valley. The old and storied Bethlehem Steel has been out of business for several years and has recently been converted into a casino. The casino dealers seem to have been organized … by the United Auto Workers (I am not sure these workers were, or whether I was seeing a commercial for some New Jersey dealers … the detail is not relevant). When we were graduate students at Cornell, the UAW aggressively tried to organize us to oppose the “brutal” working conditions we had to endure as students. At least the dealers are actual employees. Now that Detroit has gone to hell in a handbasket, who will the UAW target next? Exploited bloggers?
