  1. I think the lesson here is that “big oil” is almost exclusively made-up of governments, not corporations?

  2. Yes, Speedmaster. I found the graph surprising and wonder about how well-informed I am about the meaning of proven reserves.

    The chart does not pass several logic tests, but it does not surprise me that state oil companies have more proven reserves than ExxonMobil. Maybe Chuck Schumer should spend more time disgorging wealth from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Iraq, Kuwait, and Russia.

    It also suggests we are not running out of oil and gas soon over there, and from what I have read, not running out of it soon in North America.
